Investing in Safer Testing Equipment
During research and development, Merlin works with many powders which are still undergoing safety testing. To keep our operators safe and improve reliability, we have recently invested in new laboratory equipment, an automated Tablet Tester to work inside our powder handling cabinets.
Selecting new equipment can be a lengthy process for our laboratory, as it is usually a big investment that needs prior research and justification. To generate compaction measurement, we currently handle the tablets to measure their dimensions, weight, and hardness. With the new automated tablet tester, we are able to allow the equipment to do almost all the handling, thereby reducing the handling risks.
When we invest in new equipment, we assess the value it will add for our customers and how it will improve the safety of our scientists. We go through a period of equipment testing until we are satisfied that we can effectively offer the improved service to our customers.
