A company requested our help with an issue they experienced during the manufacturing process, as they were subjected to unacceptably high levels of parts failures.
The manufacturer used non-standard equipment during manufacturing, which means the unacceptably high levels of parts failures were becoming very expensive to replace. They decided to contact us in order to limit wasted resources, by troubleshooting the cause of their equipment failures.
We were able to provide the client with the results they required by testing with only a small amount of sample. We were able to identify potential problems such as production parameters such as tooling design or compaction force/speed, this can lead to savings in time and money.
Our Case Study Highlights:
We started the project by looking at characterising the material properties of the product being compressed and comparing the different variants for the different products.
The bulk density and compactibility results produced by Merlin were used to identify the cause of the manufacturing issues. We then used our 10+ years of tabletting experience, to suggest a new process controls based on the measurements made, to improve the process.
