A client wanted to select the appropriate settings for production, to limit the changes that may happen as dwell time shrinks.
The client wanted their product to be transferred to a production site in a different location, using a full-scale press. The client requested information on the best settings for the production site to use during the manufacturing of their product.
We assessed the compaction properties of the formation comparing slow speed compression with a high-speed simulated profile. This allowed the client to check for changes that may happen as dwell time shrinks, and to make any decisions on what they think will be the best settings for their powder. It is important to conduct tests that reflect a client's real-life production settings, so they can accurately predict how the manufacturing process will go.
Our Case Study Highlights:
We were able to use the proposed final capsule shaped tooling as part of the assessment which was provided to us by the client. This allowed us to replicate the production settings and inform the client if any issues were seen with the tooling.
We were able to assess the suitability of the client's powder using as little as 20g of formulation. The results are compared to key performance indicators to assess scale-up risk, which in turn allowed the client to assess what they believe are the best settings for production.
The results were used to predict the settings required in production and provide confidence in the choice of press and tablet shape.
